Holiday Day 2

A quick update from me.

20120902-181424.jpg

This was our view this morning – misty and drizzly so we headed into the surf for some fun this morning. Lunch was a cream tea! The lady that owns this cottage left us scones, jam and clotted cream – shame to waste it!

This afternoon turned even more misty, so we put on waterproof jackets and walked around the coast path to Rock.

20120902-181710.jpg

This is the Doom Bar – a sand bar that has been the doom of many a ship!

In Rock we went to look at an art exhibition, had coffee and then walked back – 6.2 miles done!

Dinner has been cobbled together – bacon and beans on toast. Lovely! Now I am resting my weary legs before we head up the hill for a small glass of wine later!

Have a marvellous Monday!

Wet, Cold, Dark

Typical Bank Holiday weather! Not much to report today as I didn’t leave the house until 7pm!

As it rained all day, we stayed home and, as you do, cleaned the house! It desperately needed it, but it is my least favourite activity. It took all day.

Lunch was poached eggs and bacon as today is another fast day. So that is it for food today. The fasting is working – hubby lost 1.5 lbs last week!

This evening I went to the next village to their brand new Community Centre.

20120827-211157.jpg

We used to live I that village, and the new Centre opened just two weeks ago, tonight was singing night! They have started a quite informal choir and I love singing! So tonight I went – it was fabulous! I enjoyed every moment and had a good laugh with lots of people. There were 25 of us – which I think is a great turn out. The leader was lovely and had us belting out the songs.

Tomorrow is back to work. Bad!

Have a terrific Tuesday!

Dry Day

Finally, a day working at home! That extra hours sleep was much needed and much appreciated.

I spent the day writing reports, so nothing too exciting there then. Lunch was poached eggs and bacon – another fast day so that was it for the whole day.

After work we ventured out.

The clouds seem to threaten rain, but it has stayed dry all day.

20120823-180430.jpg

Mmm – pies! Can’t wait for a few more of these to be ready.

20120823-180523.jpg

They cut the hedges a couple of weeks ago, so now we have some lovely bright green ferns springing up and out. Really pretty.

Tomorrow I am home again – have a fab Friday!

Another Week Begins

Happily my working week started with a day at home, I really appreciate being able to work here – I get lots done in the comfort of my own home.

It’s been another lovely day that started damp and ended warm and sunny. Today was this week’s first fast day – we are aiming at two per week! So, lunch was two poached eggs and three slices of bacon for me, hubby had toast and grilled tomato with his. That’s it for food until tomorrow now.

After work we walked again. Unfortunately the butterflies were a bit quick for me today!

20120820-180919.jpg

Happily, lanes don’t move!

20120820-181037.jpg

I also got this lovely picture of our house with the church behind and cows testing in front – idyllic Devon scene!

20120820-181138.jpg

We did a bit longer walk today as there was no rush home to cook.

Tomorrow it is back to the office so an early start for me. Have a terrific Tuesday everyone!

Dentist Day

You know how I feel about dentists! Today was a first – the first time I have been to a ‘normal’ six-monthly check up! In the past I have just waited until I absolutely *had* to go – the longest was seven years!

Today I was brave and off we went to get my check-up, with the promise of coffee after.

20120816-180830.jpg

We had to stop on the way for these guy’s –

20120816-180905.jpg

Heading off to a new field!

So – dentist gave me the all clear and an appointment for February 2013 – Yeah!

Home and poached eggs for lunch with bacon, hubby had toast and tomatoes too. That’s it for food today – the second of two fast days for this week.

We have just been for our usual walk instead of eating! But drizzly out.

The lovely cows in the field opposite –

Just having a sit down!

Now I have some research to do, so have a great evening and a fantastic Friday!

Me Day

Today I have had a me day – I’ve never had a me day, so this has been a first.

This morning I went and got a manicure and had my nails painted with Gel polish.

20120809-180747.jpg

Lovely! I enjoyed it a lot!

I got home in time for lunch – which is our only meal today as we are giving the intermittent fasting thing a go. The idea is that you just eat 500 (600 for men) calories in one meal – then nothing else. It is supposed to do two jobs, firstly the reduction in calories aids weight loss, but also the fasting helps your body go into repair mode.

I’m hungry now, but I am determined to get through the day! I had two poached eggs and bacon for my meal – plenty at the time!

This afternoon we did a 3.25 mile walk. It’s hot out there!

20120809-181250.jpg

I was quite tired by the time we got home – and hot!

20120809-181337.jpg

Look how high the hedges have grown! At least they gave us a bit of shade.

20120809-181427.jpg

In between lunch and walk I did a bit more book editing. Boy that can drive you nuts – but I am getting there!

Now I am going to settle in with more Olympics and some black coffee.

Have a fantastic Friday!

No Rain!

I hardly dare mention it, but we have had a whole day without any rain!

I’ve worked at home today and seem to have spent the whole day reading stuff, my eyes are quite tired now. Learned a lot though – the Internet is such a marvellous thing. A few years ago there would be no way of me even seeing the stuff I have read today, and not only have I read it, but I have interacted with it – copying stuff, rewriting stuff – just wonderful! I feel sorry for the youngsters who have always known the web – they have no idea how lucky they are!

I have put on more weight this week, so today has been a ‘less food’ day. Lunch was soup – just soup. Dinner has been a crust less quiche made with fried onions, four slices of bacon chopped into strips and fried with the onion, then I poured in four beaten eggs and cooked in the hob for a few minutes to set the bottom, then whacked under the grill to cook the top. It served the two of us with a load of salad.

Before dinner we did our walk – it was nice to look at things a bit further away!

20120705-180827.jpg

A nice day for a walk – t-shirt weather at last!

20120705-180909.jpg

More lovely flowers – this is Rosebay Willow-Herb!

20120705-181006.jpg

Pretty isn’t it! I would never have known what is was without the web!

Tomorrow will be another ‘less food’ day, and again I am working at home. I hope you have a fab Friday!

Technology

I love technology! I love gadgets and anything that starts with an i, but the best thing is that I can work at home as easily as I can work in the office. I get my work pc desktop on my home pc, and happily take part in meetings via the phone and the web – marvellous stuff!

I did all of that today – working at home enjoying my own company and getting lots done whilst interacting with my colleagues via email and phone. I’m sure they don’t miss me!

At the end of the day the sun finally appeared and we went for a nice walk.

20120627-184751.jpg

The hedges are getting silly now!

20120627-184819.jpg

No chance of seeing what’s on the other side!

Food today has been much more reasonable than yesterday! Lunch was tuna and lettuce, dinner sausages wrapped in bacon with cabbage and carrots. A few nuts later, but I really need to make up for the pile of food I ate yesterday.

Office again tomorrow – not keen on the early start, but there you go! Have a good Thursday!

What’s This Work Rubbish?

I’d forgotten what to do when I logged on to my work pc this morning! It seems like an age since I had to do real work!

I was up and at them early today – sat in front of my computer before 8am, which made for good productivity, but a long wait until lunch. Talking of lunch, the Paleo eating is going well still – I am so much happier without the rubbish that crept into my diet. I did go a little overboard with the nuts again last night, but I’m not worried, I’m just happy to clean up my system first, I’ll worry about weight in a week or two.

Lunch today was a whole tin of tuna (line caught) with red onion and shredded lettuce. Dinner has been chicken wrapped in bacon, with braised leeks and courgettes. Great food!

We also got a 2 mile walk in late afternoon – lovely to see the lanes getting smaller as the hedgerows grow!

20120606-182648.jpg

The Foxgloves are particularly spectacular!

20120606-182733.jpg

Lovely to get out, and looking at the forecast, tomorrow may be one for indoors – luckily I’m working at home as they are forecasting 60 mph winds! Blimey!

Take care out there!

Walking With a View

I got up way too early this morning – like before 07:15! It was light, and I am used to a dark bedroom, so I just had to get up. I’ve been tired ever since! Serves me right!

Three cups of coffee later, I’m showered and sorted ready to go. We decided on a short trip down into the village to post a letter, and then a circuit of the coast path. Amazing how much less it hurts to walk when you have a marvellous view to look at.

20120310-194345.jpg

Before lunch we did 4 miles in 2 hours – not bad! Previously I have been doing one, maybe one and a half miles, so four is great. When we got back my leg was very sore and swollen, but recuperated over a bacon roll on ciabatta bread! Lovely.

After a couple of hours rest, we went and looked around the shops in Bodmin – not a lot there – but quaint. So a bit more walking before retiring home for a bit more rest and elevation. It seems to be doing good as the swelling is reducing, but the bruises seem much worse and numbness is still there.

Dinner was cooked at home, when I say “cooked” – it was actually tins of M&S Chicken curry and a bag of microwaved rice. Fine – not brilliant, but fine.

Sunday tomorrow – not sure what we will do – which is lovely. The one thing I do know is that I’m not getting up before 8 am!

Have a great day!
